To develop a complete system for ongoing business improvement, it would be inaccurate to suggest only one universal solution: Therefore, the need for tools to communicate with other tools becomes increasingly important. Inheriting the expertise of other systems allows the user to obtain a well rounded suite of tools, without the burden of process replication, disparate structures, and of course costs. ProcessWizard focuses on creating the upper three process levels. At a more detailed level, other tools, such as Aris and Microsoft Visio, have preset guidelines to guide the user. Thus, an interface that can communicate between these two strengths is ideal.
Introducing xChange - Explaining the System
xChange addresses the concept of transferring project data and process maps from ProcessWizard to other, more detailed mapping tools such as Aris or Microsoft Visio. ProcessWizard is renowned for high-level modelling with a top-down approach.
It focuses on aligning strategy and competitive advantage to the operational level. ProcessWizard is a particularly easy-to-use tool, with an open environment and no constraints for modelling. However, at an implementation level, clear rules and compliances become more important when defining workflows and transactional relationships. Programs like Aris and Microsoft Visio can adhere to such procedures, including ERP implementation reference models or the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance. The Continuous Improvements cycle is formed by utilizing a top down approach with ProcessWizard and a bottom up with other modelling tools. This strategic positioning allows detailed design, configuration and implementation of the system, including actual measurements of the metrics and the analysis of optimized processes. ProcessWizard is part of the long term continuous improvement.
Procedure - Structure your Success
xChange serves two main functions:
As ProcessWizard generic frameworks stop at Process Diagram (Level 3), it becomes possible to transfer these process maps to Aris. This can be achieved by importing the Thread Diagram from the specified model. Subsequently, this will import all Process Diagrams (Level 3) the user has been working on. It is then possible to begin work on diagrams (Level 4 and 5) going forward in either IDS Scheer Aris or Microsoft Visio. The model can then be re-imported back into ProcessWizard with the Workflow and Transaction Diagram (Level 4 and 5) as a read-only reference.
A further scenario is to use ProcessWizard to customize your ERP application. Here your ERP transactions are reverse-engineered into ProcessWizard. Then they are used to model the processes in Location, Thread or Process Diagrams (Level 1 to 3) using the proven Supply Chain Excellence Methodology to build the to-be model. As a next step, the new to-be model can be transferred into a tool that can be used to customise the ERP system. In this modelling system, Levels 4 and 5 are created, and use the created Workflow (Level 4) and Transaction (Level 5) to customise the ERP system. After this exercise, information is loaded back into ProcessWizard to have it available for future decisions about the supply chain.
